ALENA A. ECKHARDT is a partner with the firm, and head of litigation based in the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices.

Ms. Eckhardt brings 18 years of wide-ranging litigation-focused experience to our trade practice. This experience expansively covers not only international trade but also admiralty and maritime litigation. Over the course of her career, Ms. Eckhardt has represented importers, vessel owners, freight forwarders, charterers, shippers, terminals, and their insurers.

Ms. Eckhardt’s experience includes U.S. Customs disputes, fires in marinas and aboard vessels, salvage claims, vessel arrests, cargo claims, pleasure boat accidents, maritime and environmental casualties, maritime liens, international shipping, as well as insurance coverage, transportation law, product liability matters, and a wide range of commercial disputes, in both state and federal courts at pre-trial, trial, and appellate levels.

Ms. Eckhardt is admitted to the bar in multiple jurisdictions, including California, Florida, North Carolina (inactive), and Arizona.

Ms. Eckhardt is involved in numerous trade and professional associations, including the Maritime Law Association of the United States and the Women's International Shipping and Trading Association. She has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the City of Portland and regularly conducts administrative hearings for the City of Long Beach and the City of West Hollywood. She also teaches part-time at the UCLA School of Law.

Ms. Eckhardt is fluent in Russian.
